Anita Lyfe

Post by Rekyae on Tue Jul 14, 2015 9:59 pm

Character
Name:  Anita Lyfe

Nickname: Flying Fish

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Appearance:
5’ 8”, 178 lb., medium build with large breasts, gold eyes, olive complexion, wavy black hair to her waist and a perpetual grin plastered onto a easily attractive face. Usually seen wearing black and/or blue dyed leather armor, but may opt for a blue tunic and black leggings. Hates skirts and dresses, so don’t expect her to wear one. Ever…

Personality:
Carefree, headstrong and mischievous, Anita is well liked by most who meet her. She smiles a lot and is very outgoing and energetic. A prankster who is always managing to get out of trouble due to her naïveté. Anita is loyal to a fault, and this means she will often choose to ignore anything that might be an early warning that someone is bad if she likes them. She will often get annoyed, if not downright pissy when she feels she has been betrayed by somebody. Beware when provoking her, though, as she has been known to go berserk if pushed too far.

History:
Anita was born to an old shapeshifter family. Her mother died when she was less than a year old. A bastard child to one of the prominent leaders, she was considered inferior by her legitimate half siblings. Her good nature made her an easy target for many of the other children. They often harassed and tortured her until, at the tender age of three, she transformed into a large black and silver scaled, blue winged lizard. There was a bit of a panic, as some believed she was a dragon.
At that point, Anita became her father’s favorite. It was proven that she was closer to a wyvern in later years, as she never developed the ability to breathe fire, preferring to fly and swim. This earned her the nickname “Flying Fish” from her siblings.
When Anita was 8 years old, she got lost in the basement of her ancestral home for two days. Her father launched an all-out search for her in the nearby countryside, believing a rival clan had spirited her away.
While she was in the basement, Anita came across many wonderful objects that she’d never heard of nor seen. One of them was an old sword longer than she was tall that was wrapped in a sheet of dusty, moth-eaten cloth. She was curious as to why this sword was in the basement instead of the weapon room that her father was so dang proud of (he tended to brag about it to anyone unfortunate enough to ask about a weapon in his hearing range). She dragged the sword behind her as she made her way out of the basement, emerging from her excursions hungry, dusty and in possession of an extremely old sword.
Naturally this caused quite a stir, since neither her father, or anyone else could figure out where the sword had come from. It wasn’t until one of the family’s accountants dug out one of the earliest written manuscripts of her family’s accounts that any reference to it was made. It had been entered into the accounts as “1 blue-steel sword with black handle and sheath. Peace offering fro……” There was a large smear of ink on that area of the scroll, obscuring a decent swath of writing.
Anita’s father decided to gift her with the sword, which Anita would later name ‘Stabinasis’, demanding her to be trained by the head of the household guard himself. The man consented, more out of curiosity for the sword than any other reason. There was plenty of contention among the other children of the family, although the majority of adults thought it was just a joke. That is, until Anita was seen running round the training ground with many of the  guards in hot pursuit.
She had initiated a round of tag, which even the Captain was involved in. Anita was fast and agile, and had a good amount of stamina, thanks to her cruel siblings. She managed to elude her training partner during most of her first match, causing the man to state, “She really is a Flying Fish! I can’t even hit her on the ground!” The nickname took on a new meaning, and Anita became well known by it.
Anita’s affinity for water control was the primary reason that she enjoyed swimming so much. Her first display of control was when, as she was practicing her shapeshift abilities, a small fire broke out in the training yard. Another recruit had been practicing with fire and accidentally lit some wooden weapons on fire. Anita reacted by lifting her tail, pulling in her wings and leaping forward as a six foot tall, eleven foot wide wave of water materialized around her. She surfed the wave over the flames and pulled her head up, causing the wave to dissipate.
One of these training sessions ended unexpectedly when Anita, now 16, and her training partner were supposed to be practicing parade flourishes. Anita, giggling madly, began mocking the teacher’s stance, swinging the sword back and forth with one hand. She made an upwards swing while holding the very end of the handle, causing her blade to reveal its secret.
The nodachi, now an odachi, went flying across the field into the bushes, leaving a very confused and startled Anita holding a short katana with a wyvern in flight carved into the blade near the base. Everyone froze and stared, causing the Captain of the guard to call an end to the days lessons. He told Anita to find her blade. Anita walked into the bushes in a daze, located her sword and decided to carry the two separately.
She was escorted to her father’s chambers. Her father was intrigued by the second blade and asked a slew of questions. Anita answered him as best she was able. She even demonstrated how the katana slid in and out of the odachi’s handle. Anita’s father said he believed the Fates had deemed her the sword’s rightful owner.
Her uncles were jealous, and claimed that they were concerned that the sword was too valuable to be left in the mere child, and a bastard at that. They tried repeatedly and to no avail to get the sword from her, even going so far as to try threatening her and her parents. Anita, sensing her father’s life was in danger, flew into a rage. She slammed her head into one uncle’s stomach, launching him clear across the room.
Turning to her other uncles, she proceeded to swing the nodachi about, burying it inches into the furniture and floorboards. Anita pulled it free with ease and chased her uncles from the room and down the hall. She pulled the katana free of it’s brother and flung it down the hall after them, missing one of them by mere inches. The sword sank into the stone floor of the hall and came free without a scratch when pulled free as Anita charged after the fleeing men.
She chased them all out of the house and through the yard for half an hour before she was finally grabbed and held down by her father and several of the guards, including the Captain. It still took her a few minutes to calm down, but when she came to, she was confused why she was being held down under a pile of grown men.
Her father laughed and picked her up. He carried her and her swords into the house, where he declared to a terrified household that Anita was now the heir-apparent. Scandalized, Anita shrieked and wriggled free. She hit the ground running, and ran to her room. Anita was shocked. Heir-apparent meant she was intended to inherit leadership when her father passed on the mantle. No way was she going to be in charge!
Anita looked around her room, thinking furiously. She scampered about, packing essentials. Into her knapsack went socks, undies, a few pants, an extra shirt and her rain gear. She strapped her sword to her back, shouldered her pack and ran down the steps. Upon reaching the ground floor, Anita snuck into the kitchens. She filled the rest of her pack with dried meat and fruit, a packet of nuts and a water skin.
Anita fled the family estate, never looking back. If she had, she would have seen her oldest half-brother leering at her fleeing back, planning on staging her death, then telling her family of her untimely demise. The Captain of the Guard would be blamed for her death and executed.
Anita ran for seventeen leagues before she finally slowed. Assessing her situation, Anita decided that her best chance was to head southwest into the neighboring country. Upon reaching her destination, she decided to hire herself out as a mercenary.
The mercenary band she signed on with were all air element users. They realized her potential as a wyvern to learn control over air, and set about teaching her the basics. Anita was able to develop a method of using generated air currents to enhance her flying ability, and as a result, was able to increase her rank in the group rather quickly. She remained with them until she got bored and said her farewells.
Three years later, we find her a sturdy, capable young warrior ready to enter a new chapter of her story…

Clan/Guild:
Mercenary Guild

Elements:
Water, Air

The Weapon(s)
Weapon name:
Stabinasis (pronounced “stab-in-ASS-ehs”)

Weapon Appearance:
A 7” long, elegant blue-steel nodachi with a black sheath/handle and very little decoration. A short katana is hidden inside of the handle which splits it in two, bearing a flying wyvern carved directly into the steel near the base of the blade. (basically a short katana and odachi combined)

Weapon info:
Well balanced and strongly forged, both blades are actually kept relatively dull. However, both have extremely sharp tips. Anita has no long range capability, but the short katana is balanced enough to be thrown effectively less than 10 feet.

Weapon history:
Anita found the blade in her family’s basement. It had been given to one of her ancestors as a gift of peace. No one remembers who it was from. Anita found out about the hidden blade on accident when she was swinging the sword around carelessly. Needless to say, the main blade flying of into the bushes near the training grounds was a bit of a spectacle.

Other Info
Strengths:
Very agile with good stamina, a quick thinker who adapts easily, confident and skilled as a fighter, highly articulate and speaks and reads/writes in multiple languages, shapeshifter (wyvern).

Weaknesses:
Phobia of worms, easily misled, low strength (when not berserk), short-range fighter, tends to get frustrated at small things, cannot read maps correctly for the life of her, scatterbrained/bad memory, doesn’t hold her booze well.

Extra stuff:
When Anita goes berserk, her strength increases about 120%, but her speed is cut by 75%. She is easily evaded as she runs in a straight line most of the time, needing to come to a complete stop in order to turn.
~~~
Wyvern form is approximately 15 feet long with 34 foot wingspan. Scales are sharp, oval shaped and of varying hues of black and silver. The wings are rather wide for their length and have various shades of blue. The tail is longer than body by 3 feet (tail = 9 ft, body = 6 ft including 2 foot neck). No horns, but has narrow, sharp, delicate-appearing but sturdy spines on her ears and tail that are slightly venomous (mild toxins that cause shooting pain and slight redness/swelling).
